Shaaban: Syria Continues to Fight Terrorism, ready to be part of any International Coalition to Eradicate it
DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Political and Media Advisor at the Syrian Presidency Dr. Butheina Shaaban said that Syria continues to fight terrorism backed by regional and international powers and proceeds into national reconciliations, coinciding with the great achievements of the Syrian army, pointing out that Syria is ready to be part of any international coalition to eradicate terrorism.
In an interview with al-Mayadeen TV yesterday, Shabaan noted that” there are a lot of ambiguities and omissions in the strategy presented by President Barack Obama on the fight against terrorism, adding that Obama’s strategy, addressed in part to his opponents in the Congress and to the American people and the Arabs who should pay to implement western plans is not a clear strategy to combat terrorism.
Shaaban criticized the west description of the armed opposition in Syria as “moderate” indicating that the West uses in our countries a terminology that does not exist in its countries, revealing the doubled standard policy advocated by the west since four years, while the Syrian people are killed at the hands of terrorists, and only moved when journalist James Foley was killed by terrorists.
Shabaan considered Saudi Arabia establishment of training camps for terrorists on Saudi territory as not new, noting that terrorists training camps are existed in Turkey and in Jordan and now in Saudi Arabia.
In response to a question about the seriousness of using UN Resolution 2170 as an umbrella to invade Syria, as had happened in Libya, Shaaban explained : “Russia and China say that any strike on Syria without coordination with them and the Syrian government is viewed as an aggression,” noting that the world today is no longer a hostage to Western powers.
She explained that what Riyadh is doing against Syria and the Arab-Israeli conflict has not been supportive to the Arabs, but always in the western interest and recently in the Israeli interest, noting that in the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza, Latin America countries withdrew their ambassadors from Israel and held demonstrations while countries that claim concern for Arabs and Islam did nothing, pointing that Saudi Arabia ‘s objective has never intended to serve Arab interests.
