Patriarch Rai: Foreign Intervention in Lebanon Aims at Undermining its co-existence

BEIRUT,(ST)_ Lebanese Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros- al-Rai has warned against foreign intervention in the Middle East, especially in Lebanon to undermine its co-existence.

The patriarch stressed during a meeting yesterday at patriarchal premises in Bkirki with a Christian- Muslim delegation representing families and clans in Baalbek, the eastern Bekaa, WadiKhaled, Bashriand Akkar that the “new Middle East project is not dead and is still ready, especially after so-called” Arab Spring “, adding that popular moves have disappeared and were replaced by fundamentalist terrorist organizations, with the aims to fragment the Middle East and create mini sectarian -states to secure the Israeli entity and justify the existence of a Jewish. “

“We will continue to bet on paramount minds which support the ideas and the vision of national unity and Arabism rather than sectarianism, noting that Lebanon is endeavored to undermine trapping international policies,”the patriarch said,.

On the issue of the Lebanese presidency, the patriarch called on all Lebanese officials to elect a new president as soon as possible, noting “we do not accept all our representatives and officials to cut off the head of Lebanon through depriving it from the President of the Republic.”
