Tehran – ˈKayhan Internationalˈ on Saturday reflected on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khameneiˈs recent address to a meeting of the Assembly of Experts that the world is currently witnessing the emergence of a new world order as Western hegemony is coming to an end.
For that reason and no other, the international community, particularly the Muslim world, should see its imminent demise – in the words of Ayatollah Khamenei – ˈas a positive development and a historical opportunity to seize in order to claim their rightful place in the concert of the new world order.”
But some countries fail to understand that, and believe they should stay subordinate to the West, added the English-language daily in its Viewpoint column.
ˈIran’s Islamic Revolution was the most important element that challenged the world order,” the Leader said, adding that the country ought to become more powerful to play an effective role in the new world order.
Elucidating further on the Supreme Leaderˈs speech, it is evident that the demise of the US as the global superpower could also come far more quickly than anyone imagines.
According to Ayatollah Khamenei, ˈContemporary developments clearly suggest that Western hegemony is in decline, mainly in the spheres of theory/vision and military/politics. Using eloquent words such as freedom, democracy and human rights, the West managed to impose its phony vision on the rest of the world for 70 years. But that hegemony is now in decline.”
Significantly, back in 2008, the US National Intelligence Council admitted for the first time that America’s global power was indeed on a declining trajectory. In one of its periodic futuristic reports, Global Trends 2025, the Council cited ˈthe transfer of global wealth and economic power now under way, roughly from West to East without precedent in modern history, as the primary factor in the decline of America’s relative – even in the military realm.”
Like many in Washington, however, the Council’s analysts anticipated a very long, very soft landing for American global preeminence, and harbored the hope that somehow ˈthe US would long retain unique military capabilities to project military power globally for decades to come,” the paper said.
Wrapped in imperial hubris and foreign invasions, the White House still seems to imagine that American decline will be gradual, gentle, and partial. Europe’s empires are gone and America’s imperium is collapsing. It seems increasingly doubtful that the US will have any success in shaping a succeeding world order that protects its illicit interests.
Undeniably, there is no denying that ˈAmerican Empire” is past its peak. ˈThe Empire of Chaos” has left behind incredible death, destruction and grotesque waste of resources that can be directly attributed to its imperialist program since the end of the Second World War.
