Halaqi Discussed with Qasimi Mechanisms to Expand Syrian-Iranian Economic Relations

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Prime Minister Dr. Wael Halaqi discussed yesterday with the Secretary of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations committee Rostom Qasimi distinct economic, trade, industrial and developmental relations between the two sides and mechanisms to expand them to the level of political and strategic relations between the two countries and peoples.

Al-Halaqi stressed that the Syrian government first priority is to improve the standard of living and service of the Syrian citizen and to ensure the flow of goods into the markets including oil derivatives to enhance the steadfastness of the Syrian people in the face of global war and global terrorism and enhance security and stability on the entire national territory.

He stressed the need to strengthen Syria ‘s trade and economic relations with friendly countries and strategic allies, led by Iran through continuous assessment of the level of these relations and giving them a new impetus so as to activate the signed agreements and sign new agreements, that contribute to open broad prospects of bilateral relations in compliance with the political will of the two countries.

He renewed the confident in the evident victory of the Syrian people and army against the global war they face in all its economic, political, intellectual forms, calling on Iranian companies and businessmen to establish development projects in Syria and contribute to its reconstruction, noting the Iranian people and leadership support for Syria.

For his part, Qasimi stressed that Syrian people’s great steadfastness in the face of imperialist powers made the world recognize Syria’s rights, reiterating Iran’s continued efforts to provide all kinds of support to enhance the steadfastness of the Syrian people.

Talks during the meeting, dealt with mechanisms to activate the credit line with a view to ensure the flow of Iranian goods to the Syrian market, especially food supplies, electric power requirements, water resources, housing, medical and pharmaceuticals products, and cooperation in the sectors of transport, agriculture and oil derivatives, in particular the provision of diesel fuel to secure a strategic reserve to meet the requirements of the Syrian people for the upcoming winter.
