Zionist Entity Strikes Against Gaza as Much Destructive as Six Atomic Bombs, Says Larijani
During the past two months the Zionist regime has bombarded defenseless civilians in Gaza with a destructive power equal to six atomic bombs, Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday.
Addressing the 17th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians Conference on Environment and Development (APPCED), Larijani said during the said period Israel has been dropping various kinds of bombs and explosives on defenseless Gazans from air, sea and land.
The 17th APPCED General Assembly opened in Tehran Saturday and will end on Monday.
The gathering aims to discuss issues related to economic development and environmental challenges facing the Asia and Pacific region.
The 46-member APPCED seeks joint measures to address environmental concerns in Asia and the Pacific.
Expressing regret over atrocities perpetrated by the Zionist regime against Palestinians, Larijani said, ˈUnfortunately, all these crimes are being committed while international forums, particularly the so-called human rights advocates have kept mum in an unprecedented manner.ˈ
Over 2,000 civilians mostly children and old persons have been killed and many more injured while heavy damages were also inflicted on urban facilities as well as environment of Gaza.
Referring to the ongoing genocide in Gaza as a humanitarian and environmental disaster, Larijani urged APPCED members to use all within their reach to condemn and prevent the crimes.
Iran seeking peace and security for region, says Dehghan
On the other hand, Defense Minister Brigadier General HosseinDehghan said on Saturday that Iran is seeking to establish peace and tranquility in the region as a principle.
The minister made the remark while talking to reporters on the occasion of the Government Week.
He said Iran is determined to thwart all threats posed to the regional security.
Given its geographic situation and its stability in the past 35 years, he said, the Islamic Republic of Iran is of prime significance in the region and acts a role model for other countries.
He said the status Iran enjoys has made it a target for malevolent plans of the alien forces, adding that presence of alien forces in the Arab Gulf serves the same purpose.
Stressing that the aliens presence in the region is the source of conflicts; the minister said there will be no equilibrium in terms of security and power balance in the region as long as aliens have military presence in the region.
He said that Iran has always made it clear to regional governments that it has no greed for their resources and is not seeking troubles in joint borders or in a particular country.
The Brigadier-General further hoped regional countries would orchestrate their policies with Iran’s sustainable plans in a bid to attain development which is their common goal.
Commenting on emergence of Daesh in Iraq, the Iranian defense minister said the terrorist group is nothing but an exhibition of the Zionist regime plots to create strife in the region to turn it into a place for clash among civilizations and within the Islamic Nation.
The supporters of the Zionist regime and the terrorist groups which commit crimes against humanity are gradually realizing the truth of Iranˈs belief that the phenomenon of terrorism is so dangerous for the entire international community, Dehghan added.
