Miqdad: No One is Immune Against Terrorism, Extremism in the Region and the World

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad stressed that one who thinks he is immune against terrorism and extremism in the region and the world is completely mistaken, pointing to the propriety of the Syrian political visions in warning for years against the spread of terrorism into the entire region and the world.

In a lecture he delivered yesterday in Daar al- Baath entitled “geopolitics in the Middle East and Syria’s steadfastness, ” Miqdad said that Syria will not hesitate to cooperate with any country to fight terrorism, but not with those who claim fighting terrorism while funding and supporting it,  as a trans-national boundaries and can be only fought through international coordination.”

He described the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2170, which imposes sanctions on financiers and supporters of the is called the state of Iraq and al-Shaam and al-Nusra Front terrorist organizations, as “representing the will of the international community in the fight against terrorism,” noting that international coordination must be within international agreements and resolutions and that any unilateral action is viewed as an interference in the affairs of countries.

Miqdad said that “one who supported in all forms  any faction that takes up arms against the Syrian state is considered a terrorist and that the international community has to prosecute and hold him accountable.”

“The West has worked on the destruction of the region and the dissemination of terrorism and terror through armed terrorist organizations with direct and unlimited support in the service of  Zionist goals,”Miqdad said, adding that ” the so-called State of Iraq and al-Shaam terrorist organization is a main haven  of the Wahhabi thought which is hostile to religions, sects and other communities and in its destruction of civilizations,” He emphasized.

Miqdad denied the recent US allegations on Syria’s failure to fulfill its pledges to destroy the chemical weapons, considering that “these statements reveal further aggression in the American politics and lack of the sincere US desire to rid mankind of weapons of mass destruction, otherwise, it must have ordered Israel to abandon its chemical  weapons, so as to declare the Middle East devoid of these weapons. “

He continued that the US should not use international legitimacy resolutions to intervene in any country, saying that “no credibility in its behavior, otherwise, it would have stopped supporting terrorism and ordered its allies do so, including Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan, especially that the Turkish government has been involved in supporting the terrorist organization of the so-called State of Iraq and al-Shaam and other terrorists, facilitated their movement and provided them with money, weapons and training. “

Miqdad added that “the US, Britain and France are responsible for the escalation of terrorism in the region and they have to stop supporting it because it threatened them first, the same as it is threatening all countries in the region,” referring to that the UN Security Council ignored hundreds of Syrian letters about terrorism and practices of the extremists and Takfiri groups.

Miqdad underlined the importance of coordination with the Lebanese state to fight terrorism, “despite the existence of certain isolationism forces supporting it on the Lebanese arena that have funded and sent terrorism and terrorists to Syria,” adding that “the agents of terror in Lebanon are still defending it, despite its arrival to their cities at the expense of their defense of the Lebanese army and the present and future of their country.”
