Global Terrorism

The latest developments in the Middle East region have proved without any shade of doubt that the US and its allies are leading a global terrorist war against the states of the region that aims to achieve colonialist interests and implement the Zionist project in the region. Syria, Iraq and Lebanon are facing a common danger represented by the spread of international terrorism which doesn’t recognize the borders between countries and seeks to impose hegemony on more lands.

There is a necessity to abandon the US policy of double standards and of not taking measures that will increase the terrorist danger in the Middle East instead of putting an end to it.

Syrian people continue to be victims of blatant violations of basic international law and human rights as a result of the foreign-backed militancy ravaging Syria. This terrorism has been supported by the US, its regional and Arab allies, especially Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.  Al-Qaeda and its offshoots are carrying out criminal acts against Syrian people and their public and private properties. Vital services, including the main water pumping station in Aleppo, had been targeted, leaving almost one million people without safe drinking water, in temperatures as high as 50 degrees Celsius. Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist groups had committed disgusting human rights violations in the country killing innocent people and destroying their public and private properties.

The West and its regional allies will pay a high price for supporting terrorism in Syria. The crimes committed by terrorists over the past three and a half years, showed the true colors of what foreign powers call a revolution. The violence fueled by the US and its regional allies will spill over and impact themselves. Thousands of Westerners and Europeans had come to Syria to fight against Syrian state and people, and fears are now growing that European militants, trained in Syria, may carry out terrorist attacks once they return home. The West and its regional allies including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are giving financial and military support to the takfiri terrorists.

The Syrian people’s steadfastness in the face of the terrorism that has been targeting it throughout the crisis established a new stage in the history of Syria, the region, and the world. Terrorism seeks to destroy Arab culture, identity, history, and civilization; therefore the coming stage must focus on preserving them.

Syria has become a global and Pan-Arab symbol for counter-terrorism with all its forms and justifications, particularly the Zionist terrorism and the western-backed terrorism. Syria assumes its responsibility as a guarantor for the Arab dignity, honor and values and rejects to yield to the others’ dictations.

Syria has been able to remain strong and resistant due to the wise leadership of President al-Assad and the heroic deeds of the Syrian Arab army. Syria is determined to eliminate the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and all terrorist groups operating on its soil. Western countries should acknowledge the new reality by joining the battle against terrorism and ending their support for terrorists.

The growth of takfiri terrorism in Syria now threatens the security of European countries, and now they’ve come to realize that what is happening in Syria isn’t a revolution but a threat to the Middle East region, Europe and the whole world.

The Syrian Army has its priorities and the situation in general in Syria is improving. The British, the Americans, the French, and the Europeans in general must change their course and adapt to developments in Syria, and they must also respect the will of the Syrian people who are determined to preserve their country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
