Syrian Arab army recaptures strategic Mliha city and surrounding farms outside Damascus

PROVINCES,(ST)_Army units in cooperation with popular defense groups have restored stability and security to Mliha city and surrounding farms in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, the General Command of Army and Armed Forces announced on Thursday.

The army command made clear that the fresh victory came after a series of decisive operations in the area during which large numbers of Takfiri terrorists holed up in it were eliminated.

“The new achievement is a strong blow to those who sponsor the aggression and to the Takfiri terrorist groups that are collapsing due to the successive blows being delivered to them by the army units,” the army command said in a statement released today.

The statement underscored that the achievement means that the Syrian Arab army has tightened the noose around the remaining terrorist strongholds in the Eastern Ghouta  and set up a base to eradicate them.

The army command vowed to press ahead with fighting terrorism, calling on the misled gunmen to benefit from the amnesty decree and to take part in defending the homeland.

Water tanks filled with weapons

Coinciding with the victory in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, the army units  discovered in Darayya district outside Damascus a hideout containing weapons and ammunitions plus water tanks filled with weapons for terrorists.

A military source was quoted on the official news agency (SANA) as citing that the hideout was located near the “al-Othman” Mosque in Darayya and there were bombs, Rocket-Propelled Grenades and rifles inside it.

It added that that the army units targeted terrorist groupings in Khan al-Sheih and Sa’asa’a in the same province [Damascus countryside].

Other terrorist groupings in several flashpoint areas outside Quneitra, Homs, Daraa and Idlib provinces as well as in and outside Aleppo province were struck by the army units.

Many terrorists were killed and wounded in the strikes.

More terrorists died when an army unit foiled infiltration bid into al-Sha’er Oil field in Homs countryside.
