DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Minister of Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Saad Naif said the ministry has provided 4,000 vaccine doses to Madamet Sham in Damascus to vaccinate its children and immunized them against fatal diseases, in cooperation with the Syrian Red Crescent organization.
In a statement yesterday, Dr. Naif said that the new shipment of provided vaccines is the third of its kind in less than a month, in collaboration with the organization, noting that the ministry is keen to complete the vaccination of children, according to the national vaccination program adopted to ensure the protection of children.
Dr. Naif added that health teams in rural Damascus health directorate had already immunized Madamet Sham children in four successive stages during the first five months of this year, with 994 children under the age of five, vaccinated in the last stage, on May 4th.
Dr. Naif indicted that in order to maintain children health, the ministry prepared a map for “areas difficult to be accessed” in some provinces in order to deliver vaccines and medicines to them periodically.
In turn, Director of Medical Services at the Organization, Dr. Mohamed Hazem Baqli said that the organization began in collaboration with Damascus Health Directorate campaigning for several-day routine vaccinations for Madamet Sham children which will target more than three thousand children under the age of five.
