Syria to participate in Youth Olympic Games

DAMASCUS,(ST)-The women’s national basketball team(3×3) are due to leave soon for China to take part in the 2014 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games which will be held in the city of Nanjing .

The participating teams in the basketball contest (women0were split into two groups:

Group A: Syria, Hungary, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Holland, China, Estonia, Venezuela and Slovenia.

Group B: Belgium, Andora, Taiwan, Czech Republic, USA, Indonesia, China, Thailand and Guam.

The national side’s opener match will be against Spain.

Before leaving for China, the national team held an-indoor training camp at the Faiha sporting complex in Damascus.

The team includes:Sara Laou, Minerva Ajjan,Farah Assad and Sara Sinjar.
