Security cordon around safe areas in Daraa tightened

DARAA,(ST)_Army units have tightened a security cordon around safe areas in Daraa city after reinforcing their presence in the western side of Daraa province- well known as al-Mansheyeh quarter- in Daraa al-Balad.

According to a military source, al-Mansheyeh quarter is the first line of defense of Daraa city which had been attacked by terrorists and it is located just a couple of hundred meters away from the Syrian-Jordanian border.

“The quarter was a strategic goal for terrorists as the axis of Ramtha-Daraa-Da’el has been used by them to move from Daraa to Quneitra or vice versa,” the source said.

It made clear that the dense vegetation, which helped terrorists to infiltrate into the area, has not prevented the army units from monitoring the axis.  “Dozens of weapons-laden trucks and vehicles for terrorists were destroyed there.”

Three attacks in a week

Last week, the army units warded off three terrorist attacks on several garrisons in al-Mansheyeh quarter.

“The fiercest attack was launched three days ago where terrorists had used heavy guns and sent a car bomb driven by a suicide bomber to a garrison,” the source said, adding that the army units destroyed the car bomb before reaching the garrison and killed more than 260 terrorists and wounded dozens.

Various types of weapons and munitions plus missiles-launchers for terrorists were destroyed during the attack that was launched by terrorists from five axes- Masri square, Nahhara cemetery-Institute of Hotel, the old customs road and Bajabjeh quarter.

Ambulances admitted the terrorists wounded during the attack to Syrian-Jordanian border  where the Zionist entity [Israel] helps them.

12 tunnels destroyed

On the other hand, the military source said that terrorist groups had tried to infiltrate into al-Mansheyeh quarter using tunnels, but the army units discovered them and destroyed 12 tunnels.

“The old customs road is under crossfire of the army units,” the source confirmed.
