Syrian Arab army thwarts terrorist groups’ infiltration bid from Lebanese Arsal town into Qalamounarea outside Damascus
PROVINCES,(ST)_An infiltration bid by armed terrorist groups from the Lebanese border into Qalamoun area outside Damascus has been foiled, as the army units have destroyed a boat carrying terrorists in al-RastanLake in Homs province.
According to a military source, the army units in cooperation with popular defense groups foiled today armed terrorist groups’ infiltration bid from the Lebanese town of Arsal into al-Jebbeh town in Qalamoun area outside Damascus and killed many terrorists.
The source added that the army units inflicted heavy losses on terrorists during targeting their groupings in the farm of al-Najjar and al-Hinnawi in Beit Saber and in Tal Hamdan in Magr al-Meir as well as in farms of al-Sheikh Abdullah and Khan al-Sheih in Damascus countryside.
Boat carrying terrorists destroyed
Meanwhile, the army units destroyed a boat carrying terrorists in al-Rastan Lake near Kesin and al-Ghajar towns in Homs countryside and warded off terrorists’ attack on a garrison in Wadi al-Ein outside Palmyra.
Many terrorists were killed and injured there and in towns of EmSherej, Enq al-Hawa, Rhom, Salam Sharqi, Taldo, BerjQaee, Kafrlaha and al-Waer in Homs countryside.
Several cars equipped with heavy machineguns for terrorists were also wiped out in the said towns and in al-Lajat area in southern Daraa province as well as near Bennesh town in northwestern Idleb province..
While in northern Aleppo province, the army units destroyed 26 cars used by terrorists in Khan al-Assal, Qebtan al-Jabal and al-Rashedin quarter and pounded two hideouts for armed terrorist groups in DaretEzzeh and Hor towns.
Elsewhere, the army units eliminated terrorists of Dagestani and Chechen nationalities in operations in Jesr al-Shogor outside Idleb province.
Ringleader for al-Nusra Front died in explosion
Last night, one of al-Nusra Front’s ringleaders, called ‘Ya’aqoub al-Omar’, died in detonation of a booby trap attached to his car near his house in Khan al-Sebl town to the north of Maarret al-No’aman city in Idleb countryside.
The son of Ya’aqoub al-Omar was also wounded by the explosion, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Ya’aqoub al-Omar was assistant to the former al-Nusra Front’s ringleader in Idleb, dubbed Abo Mohammad al-Ansar, who was assassinated last April by the so-called the ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ in Harem town.
The assassination of Omar comes within a series of assassinations and fierce quarrels among armed terrorist groups in many areas nationwide over sharing loots and supporters’ different plots.
