HOMS , (ST)- The sales of phosphate by the Public Compny and Phosphate Mines in Homs during the first half of the year are estimated about five billion Syrian Pounds.
General Director of the Phosphate Company in Homs Abdul Rahman Perini said tha the sold quantities of raw phosphate amounted to 70 649 tones compared to 415. 282 tones of overseas sales worth more than four billion Syrian Pounds, indicating that the company produced during the same period, 493 822 tones.
Mr. Perini said that the main difficulties facing the company are the ceasation of rail transport as a result of terrorist attacks as well as the difficulty of ensuring some production supplies and spare parts.
He noted that the functions of the company include production and investment as well as investment of salt ores and Kuartz sands and the establishment of factories for the production and investment of non-metallic materials within the sectors of the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources.
The company also works all contracts and necessary agreements in the areas of production, investment and marketing, he added.
The company’s plan for the current year includes the production of 2.2 million tones of Khnevis and Eastern mines as well as the sale of 400 tones to the General Company of Fertilizers versus 1.8 million tons abroad in foreign currencies.
