MOSCOW, (ST)- “External players in connection with the crisis in Syria, should work according to the statement of the International Working Group, agreed upon in Geneva to find a peaceful solution to the crisis,” stressed the Russian Foreign Minister Sergy Lavrov on Monday.
In a statement quoted by Russia Today TV, the Russian Foreign ministry said that Lavrov discussed with the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi in a telephone call ways of resolving the crisis in Syria politically and stressed there is no alternative, but to work with all parties in Syria to stop the violence immediately and start unconditional dialogue .
“Lavrov explained to Brahimi that Russia is maintaining intensive contacts with the Syrian government and the opposition, alike, and thereby other external players should proceed in accordance with the Geneva statement,” the statement added.
