NEWDELHI,(ST)_ Director of West Asia and North Africa department in the Indian Foreign Ministry Sandeep Kumar has stressed India’s firm position in rejecting foreign intervention in Syria and the need for “a solution to the crisis to be by the Syrians for the benefit of all the Syrian people.”
Kumar pointed out in a seminar organized by the National Defense College of India, which is supervised by the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi entitled “The Global Impact of the crisis in Syria” India’s concerns about the growing terrorism in the region “along the lines of what was in Pakistan and Afghanistan, supported by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and sponsored by the US “.
Kumar emphasized the deep relations between India and Syria.
For his part, Syria’s Ambassador in India, Dr. Riad Abbas gave detailed explanations on the current situation in Syria and the global war being waged against it by the countries that support terrorism with money and weapons, indicating the effect of this situation on the stability of the region and the world.
Abbas insisted that world peace loving nations must cooperate to fight terrorism.
Participants in the seminar stressed the need to fight terrorism and extremism and uncover the truth about countries sponsoring it, pointing out that what is happening in Iraq and Syria requires concerted international efforts to fight global terrorism because such a crisis could adversely affect the future of the region ‘s security and stability.
The seminar was attended by Professor Rakesh Biel Bata of Jawaharlal Nehru University and Indian Arab and foreign army officers, taking part in the current session of the Indian Military Academy.
