DAMASCUS, (ST)-Keen efforts are being exerted by the government to rehabilitate the industrial city of Sheikh Najjar in Aleppo and to kick off production as soon as possible, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi said yesterday.
Al-Halqi, who was speaking during a phone call with the Syrian TV, asserted that the rehabilitation plan will begin with fixing the damage caused to the infrastructure by the armed terrorist groups through providing alternative transformers and electrical networks. The water and communications networks are planned to be restored within the coming few days.
According to the premier, the Reconstruction Committee will partially compensate for the damage caused to the factories and industrial facilities.
“The losses are estimated at hundreds of billions of Syrian pounds; a cost that needs cooperation between the government and the industrialists to rebuild the industrial city which has greatly contributed to the enhancement of the Syrian economy,” al-Halqi said.
“Restoring security and stability to the Sheikh Najjar industrial city is a great achievement to be added to the victories of the Syrian Arab Army in its war against terrorism,” He added.
