Lahham : Syria-DPRK relations Strategic, Based on Fixed Foundations

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Parliament Speaker Mohammed Jihad al-Lahham stressed that relations between Syria and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, DPRK are historic, and strategic and based on moral grounds and solid pillars on the service of the interests the two countries peoples and in support of their common struggle against imperialist and Western projects.

During a meeting today with the DPRK Ambassador in Damascus Zhang Myung,  Lahham indicated that Syria and the DPRK are facing a common enemy that seeks to impose its will by force on the peoples of the two friendly countries, a fact which necessitates coordination of bilateral positions in international fora and cooperation in various fields to face all enemy plots.

He explained that the US and its Western allies continue their support for the armed terrorist groups in Syria with money and weapons, in a flagrant violation of the international law and the UN Charter, which provides for fighting terrorism and holding its sponsors and financiers accountable.

He pointed out that the Syrian people, army and leadership have become more determined than ever to defeat terrorism and its sponsors and restore security and stability to the country and start the reconstruction process of renewable Syria.

He noted the historic relations between Syria and the DPRK, founded by late l leader Hafez al-Assad and the late President Kim Il Sung, which are now experiencing further development and enhancement under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and President Kim Jong-Un, calling for strengthening these relations to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.

For his part, the DPRK Ambassador said that the two peoples are “comrades in arms” in the same trench against the US and the Zionist entity policies,adding that the Syrian people, army and wise leadership will be victorious against terrorism.
