Su-27 jet fighters to hit targets during military exercises in Russia’s Kaliningrad region
The Su-27 crews of the Russian Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation that are taking part in the military exercises in the Kaliningrad region on Saturday will shoot at air targets imitating the air assault weapons of an imaginary enemy, the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass.
“Each air crew will have to independently detect the target at a distance of dozens of kilometers with the use of radar sights and airborne stations,” the Russian Defence Ministry went on to say.
Upon detection and chasing of the air targets, the fighter aircraft pilots will have to destroy the imaginary target. The pilots will shoot the targets individually and or as part of a pair in daytime and at night, the Russian Defence Ministry clarified.
“SAB-250 flare bombs delivered by the Su-24 frontline bomber of the Baltic fleet naval aviation will be used as the air targets,” the Russian Defence Ministry said.
