Difficulties of Import, Export Discussed

DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Khader Orfali, underlined the need to find solutions to the obstacles that could hinder the flow of goods to the local markets, especially necessary raw materials for industry and requirements of agricultural production.

The minister, during a meeting with stakeholders in the public and private sectors to discuss the reality of the processes of import and export, the minister stressed the need for coordination and participation with the concerned authorities in the light of the instructions issued by the ministry in the recent period for the rationalization of import.

The conferees discussed the importance of providing raw materials for industry sector in addition to other food commodities and ensuring needs of the market.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Abdul Salam Ali, Director of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Economy, Director General of Customs Majdi Hakima, head of the Exporters Association Mohammed al Sawah, representative of the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture and head of Damascus Chamber of Industry and Basil Hamwi attended the meeting.
