DAMASCUS, (ST) – Prime Minister Dr. Wa’il al –Halaqi and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Damascus Wang Kjyan discussed ways of bilateral cooperation in various fields and the possibility of expanding ties of trade exchange between the two countries.
Dr. al –Halaqi, during the meeting, underlined the importance of activating the agreements and contracts between the two countries and promoting cultural, scientific and medical exchange, rehabilitation and training of national cadres in the Syrian fields of informatics, new technologies, business management, information technology and economic development.
“Syria, after the success of the democratic experiment of the presidential elections, lives a new historical stage and lays the foundations of building, which urges the government preparing plans and development programs that meet the aspirations of the Syrian people,” the Prime Minister explained.
Dr. al -Halaqi called on the friends of the Syrian people, especially China to participate and contribute to the reconstruction phase, which will be conducted by the efforts of the Syrians and the help of their friends, referring to the prospects for promising investments in Syria at all levels, particularly in the sectors of construction, telecommunications and electric power.
He noted the historical and growing strategic relations linking the two countries and the need to raise the level of economic relations to the level of political relations.
For his part, Kjyan expressed his country’s desire to develop economic relations and open up new cooperation and the possibility of establishing genuine partnerships between businesspersons and companies in the two countries to achieve integration in all fields, especially that China is seeking to revive the Silk Road in addition to Syria’s important role in this area.
