The Muslim World League welcomed the European Union’s decision to lift all economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian Arab Republic.

In a statement published on the official website of the League’s General Secretariat, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, praised this important step by the European Union in support of the Syrian Arab Republic’s entitlement to move towards its new future and promising journey, which represents a ray of hope for the Syrian people with their great aspirations.

Al-Issa highlighted all international efforts made in this context, particularly the diligent efforts and good initiatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the Syrian people, which culminated in the response of U.S. President Donald Trump and his “historic” announcement from the capital Riyadh to lift all U.S. sanctions on Syria.

The European Union’s decision comes in the wake of this significant and impactful American decision.
