Health Minister at World Health Assembly: International Cooperation Vital for Rebuilding the Health Sector
Minister of Health, Musab Al-Ali, addressed the World Health Assembly in Geneva, stating that the Ministry of Health has played a pivotal role in the recovery of the health sector after years of destruction that damaged half of the country’s health facilities and forced medical personnel to flee.
He emphasized the urgent need for international cooperation to support reconstruction, develop medical staff, and ensure universal health coverage, with a focus on good governance and emergency preparedness.
Al-Ali reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to building a sustainable health system that strengthens both national and global health security.
He expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization and international partners, calling for enhanced collaboration toward a healthier future.
the Minister of Health emphasized that the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria represents a turning point and a real opportunity to bring about positive change in the lives of millions of Syrians.
He called on Member States and partners to stand with Syria for the sake of human health everywhere, and to build a more equitable and comprehensive health system that protects lives, consolidates peace, and supports Syria’s future.
