53 families, with a total of 283 people, left Al-Arisha camp for displaced people in the Hasakah countryside. They come from the Deir ez-Zor countryside and live west of the Euphrates River.
Media sources reported that this is the fifth trip organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees as part of its efforts to facilitate the return of the displaced.
The total number of displaced persons received by the camp since its establishment was about 14,000, but the current number of residents has decreased to about 11,000.
UNHCR will soon start evacuating new batches of displaced people from Homs Governorate and other Syrian provinces.
According to the sources, there are about 200 families registered with UNHCR and ready to leave the camp in the next batches. A new batch of displaced people from Al-Arisha camp is scheduled to be evacuated on Thursday, according to the camp administration.
The AL-Arisha camp is located 25 kilometers south of the city of al-Hasakah, and is one of the largest camps in northern and eastern Syria.
