The Jordanian Cabinet approves the general framework to establish a higher coordination council with Syria

The Jordanian Council of Ministers today approved the general framework for establishing a Higher Coordination Council between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Syrian Arab Republic, which was agreed upon by both countries to be headed by their respective foreign ministers.

According to a statement from the Council, as reported by the Jordan News Agency “Petra,” this decision aims to establish a joint work agenda between the two brotherly nations and to enhance fraternal cooperation in many areas—particularly key sectors such as trade, transportation, energy, and health—with the potential to expand later into other fields.

The statement clarified that the council will convene alternately in each country, with the first meeting to be held in Jordan. It will hold sessions every six months, with the possibility of holding an extraordinary session at any time upon mutual agreement, should the need arise.

The council will include in its membership the ministers of “energy, health, industry and trade, transport, agriculture, water, information and communication technology, education, and tourism” from both countries.
