Trump’s statement to Fox News about his meeting with Al-Sharaa

The US president Donald Trump has declared that the Saudi Crown Prince emphasized to him, in a sincere and direct tone, the necessity of lifting sanctions on Syria because they are destroying the country and hindering reconstruction.

In a statement to Fox News, Trump said: “The Crown Prince made it clear that the Syrians will not be able to recover under the weight of these sanctions, emphasizing the need to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.”

He added: “During my meeting with the Syrian President, I told him that he has the necessary qualifications to lead this turbulent region…. I was very impressed with Ahmad Al-Sharaa, who seemed grateful for the decision to lift sanctions and who now has a real opportunity to prove his ability to overcome challenges.”
