President Assad: Expatriates Participation in the Election Confirms their Belonging to the Homeland

DAMASCUS,(ST)_President Bashar al-Assad met yesterday a delegation representing the Syrian community in the US, who came to Syria to cast their votes in the presidential election.

President al-Assad, during the meeting, stressed that the determination of some Syrian expatriates to come to their home to participate in the electoral process confirms the depth of their belonging and loyalty to their country and the determination to maintain their sovereignty decision.

Members of the delegation expressed happiness to participate in the electoral process, stressing that they decided to come to Syria to make their voices heard and choose their president, based on their belief that the Syrian people are the only ones, authorized to maintain self-determination and build their future, not any other party.

The meeting dealt with issues pertinent to the Syrian community in the US.

President Assad noted the importance of activating the role played by the Syrian expatriates abroad and take advantage of their expertise to rebuild what was destroyed by terrorism, stressing expatriates role in strengthening the ties that bind expatriates children and their peers at home.

Members of the delegation vowed that they will devote all their capabilities to defend the country’s issues abroad and contribute to the process of the building and reconstruction.
