Minister of Agriculture Engages with FAO Delegation to develop Recovery Plan for Syria’s Agricultural Sector
The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Amjad Badr, held discussions with a delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) regarding a cooperation plan aimed at recovering the agricultural sector.
The ministry explained through its Telegram channel that Minister Badr reviewed the obstacles and challenges the agricultural sector in Syria has faced over the past years, highlighting their impact on infrastructure, production, and farmers. He emphasized that continued agricultural production requires support, particularly given the decline in financial resources and production capacity.
Delegation members stressed that Syria is one of the organization’s top priorities in the coming stage. They noted that the plan developed last February is open for discussion and modification according to the Ministry of Agriculture’s vision and priorities, especially concerning the wheat crop, which is crucial for food security.
