Italian Prime Minister Expresses Support for Syria’s Economic Recovery and Reconstruction

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her country’s support for efforts to bolster Syria’s economic recovery and reconstruction.

“We believe it is essential to bolster the Syrian economy and ensure the voluntary, safe, and sustainable return of refugees to their homes,” Meloni said during a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following their talks in Rome, according to the Italian News Agency AKI.

Meloni clarified that she agrees with the Turkish president on the need to ensure a democratic transition in Syria that includes all segments of Syrian society.

Meloni indicated that she exchanged views with Erdoğan on the increasingly tragic situation in the Middle East, especially in Gaza Strip.
