Saudi Arabia and Qatar Announce Payment of Syria’s Arrears to the World Bank

Economy

In a joint statement, Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced the payment of Syria’s outstanding arrears to the World Bank Group, amounting to approximately $15 million.

The statement explained that clearing these arrears will allow Syria to access allocations from the World Bank to support critical sectors.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar also called on international and regional financial institutions to promptly resume and expand their development activities in Syria.
