Meshhadani: Exhibitions form Strategic Gateway to Syria’s Reconstruction and Economic Revival

In the post-liberation phase, Syria is witnessing serious efforts to rise again across various sectors, particularly in organizing economic events and specialized exhibitions.

As this field is considered one of the key drivers of development and investment, Syriatimes E-newspaper interviewed Mr. Khalaf Al-Meshhadani, General Director of Meshhadani International Group for Conferences and Exhibitions, and Vice President of the Arab Union’s Regional Office for Productive Families and Traditional Industries in Syria, to discuss the current state of exhibitions in the country and their role in supporting reconstruction, empowering the private sector, and attracting investments.

  • -Reviving the Conferences and Exhibitions Sector

According to Meshhadani, Syria is in urgent need of a comprehensive development of this sector, starting with rehabilitating the Damascus Fairgrounds and enhancing government support to attract major companies, especially after the recent wave of openness.

He emphasized the importance of establishing a university specialization in this field, expressing his group’s readiness to collaborate with universities in providing both theoretical and practical training for students.

  • -Exhibitions form a Gateway to Investment and Reconstruction

Meshhadani believes that exhibitions play a pivotal role in Syria’s reconstruction efforts, as they are the first channel through which investors can discover the real needs and potential of the Syrian market.

“We are ready to welcome any investor . Every foreign or Arab participant in our exhibitions becomes an ambassador who conveys the true image of Syria to the world.” he said

  • -Supporting Small Projects and Productive Families

In his role as Vice President of the regional office of the Arab Union for Productive Families, Meshhadani noted that his group allocates free exhibition space for small business owners in every event, aiming to empower them, enhance their marketing capabilities, and connect them with international markets.

  • -Effective Government Collaboration

He pointed to the existence of strong and effective cooperation with government entities, especially at this critical stage, which helps create the right environment for the success of economic events. This collaboration, he said, directly benefits the national economy.

  • -Flagship Events Post-Liberation

“Among the most notable recent events was the 3rd International Syria Agricultural Mechanization and Livestock Exhibition “Agro Syria 2025″ which witnessed significant local and international participation. ” According to Meshhadani .

He pointed out that “The exhibition hosted strategic partnerships and forward-looking seminars, with the presence of countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and India—highlighting growing interest in Syria’s market.”

  • -Lifting Sanctions: The First Step Forward

Concerning the sanctions imposed on Syria , Meshhadani stressed the importance of lifting sanctions on Syria, describing it as “the first essential step toward opening the doors for reconstruction and investment.”

He added, “Syrians are fully capable of rebuilding their country better than before—provided they receive the necessary support and that external restrictions are lifted.”

  • -A Bold Vision for 2025

Meshhadani reaffirmed that since its establishment in 2006, the group’s motto has remained: “The Definite Choice for Those Seeking More.”

He emphasized the group’s ongoing commitment to building strong professional teams and expanding its presence globally in order to contribute to Syria’s economic growth and greater global integration.

Looking ahead, Meshhadani revealed that 2025 will feature specialized and high-impact exhibitions tailored to the needs of Syria’s industrial sector.

He concluded with a heartfelt message to Syrian investors and businesspeople abroad:

“Today, more than ever, Syria holds reasons worth living for. I call upon all of you to return, take part in rebuilding your homeland, and invest in its future—so Syria may once again shine as a destination for tourists, industrialists, and traders from around the world.”
