DAMASCUS,NApr.26, (ST)-Today, the Ministry of Health held the closing conference of the “Shifaa” Campaign, that was launched in cooperation with the Syrian Gathering in Germany and the Independent Doctors Organization, to provide free medical and surgical care to the most vulnerable groups in various provinces.
During the three-week campaign, 670 operations were performed, including 236 interventional surgeries, 74 cardiac surgeries, 90 orthopedic surgeries, 52 urological surgeries, 46 visceral surgeries, 67 neurological surgeries, 433 vascular surgeries, 9 thoracic surgeries, 22 restorative surgeries, and 31 digestive surgeries.
Most of these surgeries were unique and were performed for the first time in Syria, with the participation of 110 doctors. Training courses were also held for hospital health personnel, and damaged medical equipment was maintained and re-evaluated.
In his speech, Minister of Health Dr. Mos’ab Al-Ali emphasized that this campaign is not just a medical effort, but a message of love and loyalty from Syria’s expatriates to their homeland.
“It is a living proof that, despite everything it has been through, Syria still pulsates with hope and carries within its people a spirit of solidarity and belonging,” the minister said
He noted that what has been provided is not measured by the number of surgeries or hours of work alone, but rather by the magnitude of the hope they have planted, the tears they have wiped away, and the smiles they have restored to faces exhausted by suffering.
On behalf of the Syrian government, the Ministry of Health, and everyone who benefited from this campaign, Dr. Al-Ali extended his sincere thanks and gratitude to all those who contributed to its success, including doctors, volunteers, and administrators.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Health always opens its doors to such initiatives and will continue to support them and facilitate everything necessary for their success.
