NEW YORK, Apr.26, (ST)-United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Joyce Msuya stressed the need to continue supporting international efforts for Syria’s recovery and development.
In a briefing during a UN Security Council session on Syria yesterday, Msuya highlighted the importance of continuing international efforts to support Syrians in light of the political and security transformations taking place in the country, and to support the momentum of investment in the country.
She noted that failure to continue these efforts will significantly outpace the capacity to respond to them and negatively impact the return of displaced Syrians to their country.
Msuya also warned of the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance and explosive remnants of war in Syrian areas.
