Meeting Between Syrian Finance Minister and Arab Executives of International Financial Institutions

Finance Minister Mohammed Yasser Barnea recently met in Washington with Abdulaziz Al-Mulla, the Executive Director of the Arab Group at the World Bank, and Mohammed Maait, the Executive Director of the Arab Group at the International Monetary Fund. The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria was also present at this meeting.

Minister of Finance Mohammed Yasser Barnea stated:
“We are hopeful and actively working towards Syria’s return to the Arab offices of international financial institutions, as this will better serve our interests. However, this is a procedural path that will take some time.”
