Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani raises the new Syrian flag at the UN building in New York

Following the flag-raising, Minister Al-Shaibani stated, “Raising the flag is a significant step that will strengthen Syria’s role in international organizations. The world now needs to hear the demands of the Syrian people. We are open to the international community and look forward to cooperation.”

He further emphasized, “With the reasons for the sanctions now disappearing, they should be lifted rather than continuing to target the lives of the Syrian people. Lifting these sanctions will help revive our economy. Syrians, both at home and abroad, have hope for the reconstruction of their country, and our people deserve support and confidence.”
“We extend our hand to our neighboring countries and the region, as we share many common interests with Iraq, particularly certain risks that we hope to address through cooperation,” Al-Shaibani concluded.
