Turkish Defense Ministry … We have agreed with Syria to establish a joint operations center

Sources from the Turkish Defense Ministry have confirmed an agreement with Syria to establish a Joint Operations Center. They emphasized that Ankara is closely monitoring the transfer of the Tishreen dam to the new Syrian government.

According to the Turkish newspaper “Zaman,” these sources stated that the resources and potential within Syria belong to the Syrians. Therefore, the handover of the Tishreen dam to the new Syrian government is being carefully observed.
The requests from the Syrian administration primarily focus on cooperation in combating terrorist threats, particularly from ISIS.
Additionally, a high-level five-way meeting was held on March 9 in Jordan, involving Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. During this meeting, the participating countries agreed to support Syria in its fight against terrorism, especially against Daesh.
Based on the requests from the new Syrian government and the agreements reached with the involved nations, it was decided to establish a Joint Operations Center.
Technical meetings involving the relevant countries are ongoing to finalize the details of the Unified Operations Center in Syria.
It is worth noting that the discussions at the Jordan meeting also addressed practical mechanisms for cooperation in combating terrorism, as well as issues related to drug and arms smuggling, and other shared challenges. The importance of maintaining coordination among Syria’s neighboring countries in these efforts was also highlighted.
