GFTU signs memorandum of understanding with several Arab organizations in Cairo

The delegation of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU), during a meeting in Cairo, signed a memorandum of understanding with several Arab trade unions and organizations, including those from Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, Algeria and Oman.

On the sidelines of Syria’s active participation in the 51st Arab Labor Conference, being held in Egypt from April 19-26, 2025, the Syrian delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with several Arab delegations participating in the conference.

Fawaz Al-Ahmad, President of the GFTU affirmed that during the meeting with the delegation of the General Federation of Oman Workers, headed by Nabhan Al-Batashi, consultations and discussions focused on strengthening and deepening the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and joint action between the two organizations at various levels of trade union work nationally, regionally, and internationally.

According to the memorandum of understanding with the Omani side, both sides declared their firm support for all rights and gains of the working classes and trade union organizations to which they belong, and their positive interaction with all issues pertaining to them. They also agreed to continue exchanging visits, consultations, and dialogue on all labor issues of concern to both sides, and to develop joint training programs and cultural courses.

The memorandum, indicated that both sides agreed on the need to coordinate positions and opinions in all Arab, regional, and international forums dedicated to discussing issues of concern to the working class in both countries.

They also agreed to exchange media, cultural, trade union, and labor expertise to increase intellectual and cultural communication between the working classes in both countries.

The date of signing this cooperation agreement between the two organizations will be recorded as a symbol and permanent proof of the bonds of fraternity, friendship, amity, and communication between the working classes in both countries.
