Syrian-Turkish meeting held to discuss enhancing economic cooperation

Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar and the Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, as well as a number of ministry officials, representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry, and a number of businessmen from Syria and Turkey, discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the dialogue meeting held today at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus, a number of Syrian and Turkish industrialists and traders reviewed the obstacles impeding trade cooperation between the two sides and discussed future visions for its development.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Shaar reviewed the government’s vision and approach to a free market economy, promoting local industry, and protecting local products, while preserving the common interests of the two countries and working to remove all obstacles.

Minister Al-Shaar explained that new and comprehensive measures will be implemented regarding the economic and commercial aspects of Syria, contributing to strengthening the investment environment, attracting capital, and optimally managing resources.

For his part, Minister Bolat emphasized that efforts will be made to remove all obstacles and impediments and to resolve the problems hindering the work of industrialists and traders.

He noted that Turkey is striving to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria to kick-start the economy and development in all fields, ensuring growth and prosperity in the new, free Syria.
