Kuwaiti Foreign Minister: Syria witnessing positive developments

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al -Yahya considered that Syria is witnessing positive developments in the light of the continuation of regional and international efforts aimed at enhancing Syria’s security and stability and preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity in order to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people towards a more stable and prosperous future.

In a speech delivered during the meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with the Central Asian countries in Kuwait, Al -Yahya stressed that the “Gulf Cooperation Council” countries continue to support Syria at all levels, and to provide humanitarian, relief and development support, according to the official Kuwaiti News Agency “KUNA”.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister had headed a Gulf delegation who visited Damascus, on the 30th of last December, and met with President Ahmed Al -Sharaa.

The delegation at the time included the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Muhammad Al -Badawi, and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister.

The two sides held a discussion session in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al -Shaibani, and the Head of the Syrian Intelligence Service at the time Anas Khattab, (the current Minister of Interior).

On March 6, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates participated in a meeting with his Gulf counterparts in Mecca.

After the meeting, the Gulf Cooperation Council issued a final statement in which it stressed the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and of rejecting foreign interference in its internal affairs.

The Council also stressed that Syria’s security and stability is a basic pillar of the stability and security of the region.
