The Chargé d’Affaires at the Qatari Embassy in Syria: President Al-Sharaa’s visit to Doha carries significant implications

The Chargé d’Affaires at the Qatari Embassy in Syria Khalifa Abdullah Al-Mahmoud affirmed that the official visit by President Ahmad Al-Sharaa to Qatar represents a new step towards further openness and coordination on various political, economic, and humanitarian issues.

 

Al Mahmoud explained, according to the official Qatari news agency “QNA,” that President Al-Sharaa’s visit comes within the framework of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and discussing ways of joint cooperation that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

 

He also noted that it carries significant implications, especially at a time that witnesses rapid transformations in the regional arena.

 

He pointed out that the current phase of Qatari-Syrian relations is characterized by a clear political will from both sides and a spirit of frankness and mutual respect, which paves the way for rebuilding trust and activating cooperation in priority areas.

 

He emphasized that what distinguishes this phase is the realistic approach to challenges and the desire to formulate a new approach based on mutual interests, away from tensions.

 

Regarding Qatar’s role in supporting Syria, the Chargé d’Affaires stressed that Doha has been and continues to be present in Syrian humanitarian issues, especially in the sectors of education, health, and relief, with an increasing interest in exploring opportunities for early economic recovery, supportting to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and enhancing stability.

 

He pointed out that there is serious consideration for future investment projects that could mark the beginning of a joint economic development.

 

Concerning the return of Qatari diplomatic representation to Damascus, he clarified that this step came after a careful assessment of the circumstances and developments of the phase.

He noted that Qatar’s position has remained steadfast in supporting the aspirations of the Syrian people, considering that resuming diplomatic work is not only symbolic but also a practical step for bridging viewpoints and contributing to creating an atmosphere of constructive dialogue.

 

Al Mahmoud also indicated that there is mutual readiness to develop relations on the ground through reciprocal visits, meetings between institutions, and exploring ways to implement joint projects with tangible impact.

He explained that joint work and the exchange of experiences are fundamental pillars for achieving real progress in both development and economic fields.

 

In this context, he confirmed that Qatar and Syria have effectively entered a new phase of cooperation based on clarity, trust, and integration, focusing on supporting stability, contributing to reconstruction, and activating partnerships in economic and cultural fields.

 

He noted that relations between the two countries are based on deep-rooted historical and brotherly ties, and that the upcoming phase will be one of building and mutual stability in cooperation.

 

In conclusion, Al Mahmoud stated: “We in Qatar believe in the importance of Arab and humanitarian cooperation, and that strengthening relations between brotherly countries in the region will have a positive impact on regional security and stability.”
