President al-Assad: Consolidating Syria- DPRK Historical Relations, Being Exposed to all Forms of Siege, Pressure

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ President Bashar al- Assad yesterday received the Democratic People Republic of Korea DPRK delegation, headed by Ri Ryong Nam, Minister of Foreign Trade.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the close ties of friendship between the two countries and peoples and the common desire to develop and build on the results of the meetings of the joint Syrian- DPRK, held in Damascus.

President al-Assad stressed that the importance of consolidating the historical relations between Syria and the DPRK stems from the fact that the two countries are exposed for long years to all forms of siege and pressure, for refusing dependency, clinging to sovereignty and independence of decision and their defiance of colonial designs targeted the interests and capabilities of their peoples in their respective regions.

For his part, the guest minister stressed that DPRK will always be with the Syrian people against the unjust war, pointing out that what he and the accompanying delegation have seen during their visit to Syria prove that the Syrian people are capable of achieving victory and rebuilding their country

The DPRK minister stressed his country support for the presidential elections in Syria because through these elections, the Syrian people are sending  a clear message for all Syria’s opponents, to that they will proceed the protection of their own state and determine their own future.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture Dr. Lubana Mshaweh and the DPRK Ambassador in Damascus.
