Finance Minister and World Bank Delegation discuss Modernizing Syria’s Banking Sector

Minister of Finance Mohammed Yasser Barnea met with a technical delegation from the World Bank to discuss ways to modernize the financial and banking sector in Syria.

 

During the meeting held at the Ministry’s building, the two sides explored ways to strengthen financial relations and develop various aspects of Syrian banks.

 

The discussions also covered the technical aspects of financial and banking operations and methods to update the Ministry’s work in order to align with the latest international financial systems.

 

Barnea emphasized Syria’s commitment to enhancing financial and economic relations with the World Bank for the benefit of the Syrian people. He pointed out the negative effects on the financial and banking sector resulting from the policies of the previous regime and the international sanctions imposed on Syria.
