Dr. Aysar al-Midani to ST: President Al-Assad ‘great leader’
She has decided to come to her homeland to tell the Syrian people living in the so-called democratic countries to come to Syria in order to cast their vote in the first multi-candidate presidential election.
Dr. Aysar al-Midani, a Syrian expatriate living in Paris, arrived here on May 24th to take part in the June 3rd election as the French government has decided to prevent the Syrians living in their country from voting in the election, set on May 28th for Syrians living abroad.
Speaking to the Syriatimes e-newspaper, Dr. al-Midani said that the Syrian Embassy in Paris informed the Syrian community that France had sent an e-mail to the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry telling that it can not ensure security during voting in France and later on, it said that it forbids it.
“It was really a shock for us. We tried to react against this through suing the French government in the justice court in Paris but it was rejected.”
The French ‘Le Figaro’ newspaper published just three lines about the decision without details.
Virtual vote
Therefore, some members of the Syrian community are trying to push media denouncement of the decision and they will vote virtually on May 28th through going to the wall of human rights to cast their vote.
The Syrian community has spared no effort to censure what Dr. al-Midani described as “revolting decision” via media outlets and via digital and social communication media- Facebook, twitter, Youtube..
The revolting decision made by the French government is an intervention in Syria’s internal affairs, an attack against Syria’s sovereignty and breach of the Vienna agreement, she said.
“There are many persons and officials in France who oppose the policy of their country towards Syria and they want to know the reality of what is going on from the very beginning.”
Active democratic society
Actually, the electoral process in Syria is a very important step towards the victory and reconstruction process in the country, Dr. al-Midani said, pointing out the necessity of reconsidering the way of life in order to build new Syria in which people talk to each other and discuss their problems in very good ways.
She added that there should be a real cooperation between the government and civil society to have an active democratic society where everyone is responsible and proactive for building our future.
Dr. al-Midani, who is a chairperson of NOSTIA [Network of Syrian Scientists, Technologists and Innovators Abroad], said that the network was founded to help Syria to be developed in the technological and social domains.
“NOSTIA is composed from experts in all fields and it has solution to everything, but things have to be built intelligently and wisely,” she added.
A group for defending Syria
Another group was created on January 2013 by 15 French organizations plus 5 Syrian ones to defend Syria’s sovereignty against military intervention and against supporting terrorists operating in Syria.
Dr. al-Midani is a member of that group that has good audiences following up on its Facebook page and website.
She sees that the so-called democratic countries have an aggressive policy towards Syria since the very beginning of the crisis in the country and they violate all international charters and Geneva conventions.
West will never be friend of Syria
“All western countries are colonialists and imperialists and they just seek to dominate our countries under democratic slogans as they did in Africa. They have always reasons to invade other countries. For example, in Kosovo they used human reasons. They are also nonchalant to the Palestinians besieged by Israel. However, they speciously claimed that they care about the people who were besieged in Homs old city.”
Dr. al-Midani underscored that the western countries work for Israel’s interests and seek to fragment Syria.
“They will never be friends of Syria.”
The aggressive antagonistic policy in media against Syria and presidential election are unprecedented.
Hand-in hand for Syria
“We, Syrians, have to be hand-in hand to rebuild our wonderful country, civilization and glory. Diversity is always our richness and it is part of Syria. Please let’s work together by respecting each other and extending our hands to each other to rebuild Syria,” Dr. al-Midani said.
She stressed that a group of Syrians will come from France next week to cast their vote in the country. “A lot of people tried to come to Syria for voting but the complicated measures in travelling hinder them.”
President al-Assad ‘great leader‘
Dr. al-Midani will vote for Dr. Bashar al-Assad because after three years of horrible war and attack, he showed that he is a real manager, crisis –manager, a real and shrewd chief and mentor of the country, of the army and also a real leader.
“Today, we need a leader, we don’t only need managers and Dr. Bashar al-Assad is a great leader. So I will vote for him and I think that he is a great person as he demonstrated to be a great person,” She said.
Dr. al-Midani concluded by stressing that she is very optimistic about Syria’s future.
