Lebanese Foreign Minister: Lifting sanctions imposed on Syria will encourage the displaced to return

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji has stressed the importance of launching the reconstruction process in Syria so that the displaced people can return. He also affirmed the need to gradually lift the sanctions imposed on Syria, as this will encourage the displaced to return, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

He explained that life has returned to normal in many Syrian regions and governorates, and therefore returnees convoys must begin today rather than tomorrow.

He also said that the international community is called upon to adopt a new approach, providing aid to the displaced upon their return to their country, not while they are in Lebanon.
