Jordanian exports to Syria grow by 520%

Data from the Jordanian Internal Trade Report showed that Jordanian exports to Syria increased by 520% in the first month of this year, reaching approximately 18,593 million dinars, compared to 2,995 million dinars in the same month last year.

Al-Mamlaka TV reported that the data showed a 9% decrease in imports from Syria during the comparison period, reaching 4,758 million dinars, compared to 5,207 million dinars in January 2024.

The channel noted that trade between Jordan and Syria has witnessed increased activity since the reopening of the crossings in December of last year.

This has been reflected in the trade balance between the two countries, and is expected to continue growing.

Both countries have agreed to remove obstacles to commercial activity and shipping, and Jordan is committed to supporting Syria in its new phase across various sectors.

Following the reopening of the Jaber border crossing between the two countries, Jordan issued facilitating decisions, such as reopening the joint free zone between the two countries and exempting Syrian trucks entering Jordan from all fees, after the Syrian side abolished all fees and stamps previously paid at the crossing.
