Education Ministry, international organizations made needs assessment for 797 Schools in Syria

DAMASCUS, Mar.22, (ST)- Minister of Education, Nazir Al-Qadri, has declared that several meetings have been held over the past three months with local and international organizations working in the field of education, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, and the International Education Foundation, with the aim of identifying the needs of schools and students, and mechanisms to enhance and develop the educational process in the country.

Al-Qadri said in a statement published today on the ministry’s Telegram channel: “We worked on census and analysis of data available in the sub-directorates in the governorates, such as the number of students, teachers, and schools, and their needs in terms of infrastructure and educational resources.”

“We held intensive meetings with the sub-centers in the governorates to discuss mechanisms for reviewing and amending curricula in the future, and to form specialized committees to develop them in accordance with the new vision,” he clarified

The minister added : We made assessment for the needs of 797 schools across all governorates, in cooperation with engineering teams and operating organizations. We also carried out the restoration and rehabilitation of 230 schools in several governorates.”
