Within the “Damascus Goes Green” Campaign, 3,500 Trees Planted in Qasioun Area

As part of the recently launched “Damascus Goes Green” campaign by the Damascus Governorate, the Directorate of Gardens, in collaboration with volunteer teams, has planted approximately 3,500 trees in the Unknown Soldier area on Mount Qasioun in Damascus.

The supervisor of the Directorate of Gardens in the governorate, Engineer Sabri Abbas, said in a statement to SANA that the planted trees included Jacaranda, carob, elm, and myrtle.

He noted that the “Damascus Goes Green” campaign also includes planting bitter orange trees, mulberry trees, ornamental plants, and flowers in public squares and gardens, medians, roadside areas, and schools to restore the green charm of the city of Damascus.

Abbas emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of environment protection and highlighting tree planting campaigns and the trees environmental and aesthetic benefits.
