Syrian-German talks on financial and banking cooperation

Finance Minister Mohammed Abazid discussed with German envoy to Syria Stefan Schneck ways to enhance cooperation between Syria and Germany in the financial and banking sectors, and prospects for its development.

During the meeting held today at the ministry building, Minister Abazid stressed the importance of working to develop the financial and banking sector in Syria, to improve its performance and level of services in cooperation with all countries supporting the new Syria, and to benefit from their expertise and progress in this field, appreciating Germany’s supportive stances towards Syria and its people during the years of the revolution.

The German envoy stressed that his country will continue to work to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria, and is keen to improve relations and cooperation with it, noting that Germany stood by the Syrians in their revolution that resulted in victory and the beginning of a new era, and that there are about a million Syrian-Germans seeking to contribute to building the new Syria.
