Arab Parliament rejects attempts to threaten Syria’s security, while the EU calls for respecting its sovereignty.
The Arab Parliament affirmed its condemnation and rejection of any attempts aimed at threatening security and stability in Syria, interfering in its internal affairs, or endangering civil peace.
In a statement reported by WAS, Parliament Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi emphasized support for national institutions in Syria and reaffirmed the Parliament’s firm stance on backing all efforts that ensure security and stability in the country, helping it peacefully overcome the challenges of the current transitional phase.
He also stressed the Arab Parliament’s solidarity with the Syrian people and its support for their aspirations for security, development, and stability.
Al-Yamahi condemned the attacks and assaults carried out by remnants of the former regime, which targeted security forces in Syria and resulted in casualties.
In Brussels, the European Union emphasized its rejection of any attempts to undermine stability in the country or hinder opportunities for a lasting peaceful transition.
It also called on external powers to fully respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In an official statement, the European Union strongly condemned the recent attacks in coastal areas, emphasizing the need to protect civilians under all circumstances in accordance with international humanitarian law.
