Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the UK’s decision to remove 24 Syrian entities from the sanctions list.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry described the decision as a positive step that would help provide necessary relief services to the Syrian people and facilitate economic and political recovery in the country.
The British government’s decision provides for lifting sanctions against financial institutions, including the Central Bank of Syria, other banks, petroleum companies and major national entities, and these include:
– Financial institutions: Real Estate Bank of Syria, Savings Bank, Agricultural Cooperative Bank, Central Bank of Syria, Commercial Bank of Syria, Industrial Bank, Popular Credit Bank, Syrian Lebanese Commercial Bank.
– Oil and energy sector: Deir Ezzor Oil Company, Dijlah Oil Company, Ebla Oil Company, Foreign Petroleum Trading Company, Pangates International Company Limited, Al Furat Oil Company, General Petroleum Corporation, Fuel Company, Syria Oil Trading Company (Sytrol), Syrian Oil Transport Company, Syrian Oil Company, Baniyas Refinery Company, Homs Refinery Company.
– Main national entities: Cotton Marketing Establishment, General Establishment of Tobacco, Mahrukat – SADCOP Company and Syrian Airlines.
“Lifting the sanctions will contribute to easing the economic pressure put on the Syrian people,” the ministry clarified.
The Ministry pointed out that it is looking forward to wotnedsing more positive steps that lead to lifting all the sanctions that affected the Syrian prople, despite the fact that they orginally aimed at targeting the former regime.
The ministry renewed its call for liftong all the economic restrictions that hinder the process of recovery and stability in Syria.
