Education and UNICEF Discuss Mechanism for Completing the Remedial Curriculum for School Dropouts

The directors of Planning and International Cooperation, Youssef Anan, and the National Center for Curriculum Development in the Ministry of Education, Hussein Al-Qassem, discussed with representatives from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) the mechanism for completing the development of the remedial curriculum aimed at school dropouts in Syria.

In a statement to reporters following the meeting, the Director of Planning and International Cooperation noted that discussions focused on the remedial curriculum, the amendments made to it, and the coordination mechanism for the remaining levels.

Anan explained that the remedial curriculum is being prepared by the ministry with funding from UNICEF. It is an informal educational program targeting students who have dropped out of the educational process.

For his part, Al-Qassem indicated that the purpose of the meeting is to advance the printing process of the remedial curriculum, which relies on self-directed learning through activities carried out by the student, allowing them to access information independently.

Al-Qassem pointed out that students’ levels in the remedial curriculum are determined through tests.
